Federal Realty has been over 50 years in the real estate field. They own, operate, and develop an award-winning retail environment and mixed-used neighborhoods in the nation’s most desirable markets. The challenge was to create a completely new user-focused and friendly web-based experience. The website at the time had an outdated design and confusing user experience. Federal Realty’s team wanted to combine two types of experience – one was the property search and the second was the corporate side of the company. In order to achieve that we had to take a reusable component based approach with a contemporary design style. We’ve created a flexible design system with the ability to evolve and grow easily. However, the existing brand identity wasn’t responding to the new goals and vision of the company so they decided to rebrand halfway through the UX phase. A new brand system was created in order to work cohesively and support all sides of the company’s needs.
